Tiers: 6-7: I really enjoyed with Normandie and Lyon being some of my best performing BBs a these tiers with 12 then 16(!) 340mm guns. Tiers: 3-5: Turenne, Courbet, Bretagne are all mostly rather standard WW1 dreadnaughts. I very much enjoyed the French BB line, in part because they change quite alot The sheer volume of guns can tend to compensate for this, indeed I found Lyon pretty damn reliable because 16 shells have an accuracy of their own. Technically the Russian tech tree dispersion is worse at long range but only after 16km (from what LWM explains in her review of Lenin).Ģ) Whilst I don't have numbers to prove this, from what I understand their fast shells mean they have more vertical dispersion.ģ) The sigma (probability of shells falling towards the centre of the dispersion ellipse) tends to be poor with 1.8 or lower, with Alsace and Normandie with 1.6 and Lyon with 1.5. République being the exception with 2.0. The French Battleships quite possibly have the honour of being the least accurate out of all the BB lines.ġ) The have the worst Horizonal Dispersion formula ((Range in KM x 9.8) + 66)m. The wiki has an article on how dispersion and sigma work: Still, I very much enjoy them despite the headaches and significantly less damage farming than the Soviet line. Very fun ships though, are they king of the meta right now? No way. If either ship gets focused by more than a couple of red ships and you will see your HP dropping very fast. Don’t expect to tank like a Russian or take broadsides like a German. Richie is great but quite soft and melty from all angles. In Richie, I think my highest game was 175k with 4 kills. I primarily use my secondaries for fires against BB and assist in the anti DD role. As others have mentioned a tank build will probably yield better yet lead fun results in the long term. I am about 25 games into my Alice and I want to say my high is at 135k atm. Sub 5k distance, 8 guns into broadside of a Monty aimed at the waterline and you walk away with 1200 damage or 3 cits. ![]() Tier X Republique and Bourgogne have 127mm guns that make up the heart of their secondary batteries and have sufficient HE Pen of 21mm out of the box, as well as high Fire Chances.īut it is possible to get good damage numbers on them with that accuracy right? I've seen a few videos on the French battleships where they got 120k+ damage Of these 7 ships, 5 of them are armed with lots of ultra-low pen 100mm guns. VIII Premium Champagne (I wouldn't recommend it in PVP with this ship ) The French Battleships with long range secondaries: But if you take IFHE, then you also gut your Fire Chances for both Main and Secondary Battery. That's not enough to HE Pen High Tier DD hulls and High Tier Battleship Superstructure. ![]() A bunch of them rely heavily on the 100mm gun, and that has awful HE Penetration capability of only 17mm. I must give you one warning with French Battleship Secondary Builds. So what's going to be the difference between the secondary build for the French battleships and a survivability build for them?
